Dr. Rakesh Kaneria, MD
Founder, Owner, Psychiatrist
Dr. Kaneria is the founder, owner, and lead psychiatrist at Midwest Psychiatric Center. He has been a practicing psychiatrist since 2003 and has experience in many areas of the mental health field including community mental health, hospital settings, emergency department and crisis assessment, local medical networks, and skilled nursing facilities.
At MPC, Dr. Kaneria provides outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services to patients 18 and up. He emphasizes individualized care for his patients utilizing screening tools, lab work, pharmacogenomic testing, and collaborating with other providers as needed. He routinely coordinates and consults with the therapists at MPC to promote individualized treatment planning, effective interdisciplinary teamwork, and above all, good outcomes for patients. He is committed to ethical, safe, and responsible prescribing. He values staying informed and well briefed on current research, new treatments, and emerging knowledge in the field of mental health.
Some of Dr. Kaneria’s areas of expertise include treating addiction, mood disorders, geriatrics, and supporting trauma recovery. He has also been involved in numerous research studies and contributed to several publications on a variety of topics including Disordered Eating, Bipolar Disorder, and Mental Illness and Diabetes. He holds membership in the American Psychiatric Association and the Ohio Psychiatric Association, Cincinnati Chapter. In 2007, Consumers’ Research Council of America honored Dr. Kaneria as “America’s Top Psychiatrist.”
Outside of work, Dr. Kaneria enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and following the Cincinnati Bengals.
